Pre-convention Interactive Forums First in a Groundbreaking Series throughout the Elections
DENVER, CO (August 15, 2008) – The Center for African American Policy (CAAP – www.blackpolicy.org) at the University of Denver today announced the first of its groundbreaking OUTBURST! Tour (www.outbursttour.com) events, a series of multi-city interactive forums addressing pressing public policy challenges through innovative “new school” solutions. OUTBURST! events consist of live 90-minute interactive forums utilizing cutting edge digital tools, formatted as a "discussion" between experts and respected public individuals in the realm of politics and public policy. The following OUTBURST! Tour events will take place on Sunday, August 24th at the University of Denver, Sturm Hall, University of Denver, 2000 E Asbury Avenue, Denver, CO 80210. Google Map:
-1pm - 2:30pm: CAAP Executive Director and Colorado State Senate President Peter Groff with Blackpolicy.org Chief Editor Charles Ellison moderate an interactive panel including current City Councilman (first Black Denver City Council President) Michael Hancock (D) and State Sen. Kasim Reed (D-GA) who is currently running for Mayor in Atlanta.
-5:30pm – 7pm: CAAP, in conjunction with The George Washington University Institute for Politics, Democracy and the Internet (IPDI – www.ipdi.org), hosts a special forum on technology and the use of online tools in the 2008 elections. IPDI Director and GWU Graduate School of Political Management Marketing Director Julie Germany moderates an esteemed panel of experts. (Panelists TBA)
-7pm – 9pm: A Special Reception hosted by CAAP in conjunction with IPDI and the GWU Graduate School of Political Management. Food and beverages served. (Showcased authors and artists TBA)
